Estimating Manager – Toronto

Position Overview: Manage multiple projects, direct & lead Estimating team and communicate with Clients, Architects & General Contractors.

Job Description

  • Develop & Maintain Estimating practices for tendering process, cost monitoring, and reporting systems and procedures
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, architects and consultants, to determine upcoming projects
  • In collaboration with senior management, identify market opportunities, source project tenders,  and then determine which ones would fit Gamma’s business objectives
  • Manage the tender process from start to finish, by coordinating and participating in the preparation of tender documents Track all incoming tenders and analyze it’s relationship to Gamma’s goals. Track all outgoing  bids and ensure that it is consistent with Gamma’s bids
  • Review and understand project/proposal specifications contract clauses and drawings to determine the scope of the work and required contents of the estimate
  • Work with Project Manager and management to estimate labour, and material costs. Consider material, labour, equipment, subcontractors, overhead, indirect costs, etc.
  • Develop bid presentations , proposals  and strategies that provide a competitive advantage and ensure that Gamma is in the best position to win the tenders. Perform risk assessment through review of contact language and commercial terms
  • Negotiation with subcontracts and suppliers for tender pricing and awards
  • Once contract is awarded, review and ensure that the agreed upon prices, revisions, and terms and conditions are correct
  • Help formulate overall project design
  • Develop & maintain post tender communications with sales

 

Qualifications

Experience

  • Quantifying & Costing
  • Minimum 10 years  experience  with construction projects

Education

  • Engineering/Architectural Background

Training

  • Course &/or training in Estimating theory

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Thorough
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read construction drawings and documents
  • Ability to manage multiple projects,  work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
