Purchasing Strategist

This opportunity is with a multi-functional company at the intersection of architecture, engineering, manufacturing and construction.  The firm is focused on developing solutions for architects with unique requirements for building envelopes, whether it be exceptional performance, geometric complexity, aggressive scheduling, or cost.  This is achieved through working with architects and contractors to develop custom solutions that utilize large scale, panelized, prefabricated products.  All of the facade solutions are designed, engineered, and fabricated in-house and on-site.  They continue to work specifically on the most challenging of projects.  We have worked on the design and delivery of some of the northeast region’s most iconic buildings for the world’s most notable architects.

 

Seeking a Procurement Strategist to manage and align procurement and business operations by developing national and international procurement strategies and relationships.  This position is based out of Company Headquarters in Calverton, Long Island, NY.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Strategize and develop long-term cost-effective procurement strategies
  • Assess and reorganize current procurement buying processes
  • Ability to quickly identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations to senior management
  • Analyze existing materials, vendors, pricing
  • Vendor and supplier bidding, negotiating and relationship management
  • Develop and leverage buying power of multiple business units within the organization
  • Preparation of bid packages and pre-negotiation strategy
  • Daily interaction with external suppliers for procurement of construction/fabrication goods and services
  • Analyze and evaluate proposals
  • Research and select key vendors and suppliers
  • Streamline and forecast material needs, buys and pricing
  • Perform price analysis and cost evaluation
  • Lead negotiations and agreement terms
  • Negotiate and coordinate modifications to purchase agreements
  • Negotiate term supply contracts/agreements and RFP’s
  • Document control for purchase contracts including review for completeness, revision control, categorization, process development and search capability
  • Work closely with senior management, production, project management, engineering fabrication and suppliers to establish business building relationships

Requirements

 

  • Prior experience in large-scale material buys in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated procurement experience in façade, curtainwall, building enclosure industries (preferred)
  • Procurement experience in manufacturing required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong business acumen and ability to make strategic decisions which align with business operations and production
  • Strong negotiation and business building skills
  • Exceptional relationship skills both internally and externally
